Unseen Arts

Community Arts Centre

I co-founded Unseen Arts as a holistic creative space on Grimsby’s historic docklands- a home for bold, multi-disciplinary art made by and for the local community. But at the start, we didn’t look like what we actually were: a hybrid arts collective, performance studio, community hub, and visual art incubator. I needed to build an identity from the ground up- one that would evolve with us, but also feel coherent, radical, and grounded in place.

As Creative Director I blend high-level strategy with hands-on creative: crafting a brand that feels welcoming, rooted in place but open to evolution. Every design decision is made with our audience in mind- from people walking into our space for the first time, to funders, partners, and press looking to understand our mission at a glance.

Unseen’s identity is a key part of how we build trust, energy, and momentum- and I’ve made sure it speaks as loudly as we do.

Our broad offering includes pole, aerial, dance, ceramics, visual art and an expansive community outreach programme. We’ve recently secured over £500K in grant funding to renovate our heritage building and expand our facilities.

Distinctive Identity

I built a distinctive brand identity blending bold typography, playful colour and local grit into a flexible visual system that reflects Unseen’s hybrid programming and radical ethos.

Creative Direction

Led creative direction across all digital, print, and social media, crafting everything from posters to motion graphics to the unseenarts.co.uk website, all designed to feel approachable and creative.

Strategic Visual Storytelling

Drove strategic visual storytelling that helped secure major funding and commissions from North East Lincolnshire Council, Arts Council England, Historic England and more. Growing our audience, and establishing Unseen as a credible, community-rooted arts organisation with national reach.
